Magnesium chloride is an inorganic compound. Its salts are colorless or white solids that are highly soluble in water.

Application

Thanks to its high hygroscopicity and environmental safety, magnesium chloride is used in many countries in the winter season on roads (it can replace technical calcium chloride) – road dust control. It prevents snow from sticking to roads and prevents icing and slipperiness. Unlike sand, it does not cause cracks in windshields or paint chipping. It is environmentally friendly. It is also used as an impregnating agent. Other applications: as a fire-retardant agent for wood impregnation, as an additive in fertilizers, as a fire-extinguishing agent, in water treatment, as a water-absorbing substance in the paper industry, and in the production of magnesium compounds such as magnesium carbonate, magnesium sulfate, magnesium oxide and magnesium hydroxide. It has many other applications as well.
