Application

Used, among others, to produce other acids, dyes, synthetic fibres, explosives and fertilisers. Also used to refine oils, kerosene and paraffin and to dry gases. Applied in the production of detergents and pharmaceuticals and as an electrolyte in lead-acid batteries. A frequently used reagent in laboratories and in organic synthesis for sulfonation and nitration.
